Short answer

The X-T30 III is Fujifilm’s $999 enthusiast body: 26.1MP X-Trans 4 sensor, X-Processor 5, a centre viewfinder and a film simulation dial. It has all 20 simulations but no in-body stabilisation.

The X-T30 line has always been the X-T5 in miniature, minus the sealing and the stabiliser. The third version keeps the same body dimensions as the X-T30 II, drops in the current processor and adds the film simulation dial from the X-T50.

What the III changed

The processor, which is the substantive change. X-Processor 5 brings subject detection autofocus for animals, birds, vehicles, aircraft, trains and insects, and roughly doubles processing speed over the X-T30 II.

It also adds the film simulation dial and the full set of twenty simulations, and moves video up to 6.2K at 30p in 10-bit.

The missing stabiliser

There is no in-body stabilisation, and at this price there was never going to be. In practice that means pairing it with an OIS lens for low light, or accepting shutter speeds above 1/60 second.

For daylight, street and travel it changes very little. For indoor and evening work without a fast lens it is the reason to consider the X-S20 instead.

Who it is for

Anyone who wants dials and a viewfinder without spending X-T5 money. It is also the natural upgrade from an X-T20 or X-T30, since the lenses, battery and general layout carry straight over.

Verdict

The X-T30 III is the cheapest Fujifilm with a viewfinder and proper dials, and it now has the complete film simulation set. If you do not need stabilisation or weather sealing, it does almost everything the expensive bodies do.

Does the X-T30 III have IBIS?

No. Fujifilm has never put in-body stabilisation in the X-T30 line. Use an OIS lens if you need it.

X-T30 III or X-S20?

The X-S20 adds IBIS, a bigger grip and much better battery life for around $300 more. The X-T30 III has the dials and the film simulation dial, plus REALA ACE, which the X-S20 lacks.
