Short answer
The X-A7 is the last camera in Fujifilm’s X-A entry line: 24.2MP Bayer sensor, no viewfinder, a 3.5-inch vari-angle touchscreen and a touch interface designed to feel like a phone. It has 11 film simulations.
The X-A7 was aimed squarely at people whose only camera had been a phone, and the interface says so. Almost everything is done by tapping the large screen, with a simplified menu that hides the depth Fujifilm usually insists on.

The phone-style interface
The 3.5-inch 2.76M-dot screen dominates the camera, and the touch menu is closer to a phone camera app than to a Fujifilm menu. There is a background defocus slider rather than an aperture dial.
Enthusiasts found it patronising. The people it was designed for found it approachable, which was the point.
The end of the X-A line
Fujifilm discontinued the X-A series after this camera and replaced the idea with the X-M5 in 2024, which uses a proper X-Trans sensor and the current processor at a similar price.
That makes the X-A7 hard to recommend now: a used X-M5 or even an X-T30 gives you X-Trans, ACROS and far better autofocus for not much more.

Verdict
